Part of my Owning and Breeding Australian Terriers was realizing that in doing so, I also needed to help out when and where I could in other areas.
One area I help out in is Fostering Australian Terriers in need. I work with the Regional Coordinator:
Carole Larsen (815-385-2009) Aussdogz@cs.com
When she needs a home for an abandoned, abused or any Aussie in need, I try to make sure I am available to take in the dog, work with the dog, and get it ready for a new and permanent home.
The first time I was asked to foster a dog the whole family was nervous. We had heard so many bad things about the dog, we were not sure what we were getting ourselves into. As it turns out, this dog's name was Taz and he was anything but what we expected. Since we had a Tazz of our own, when he came into our house, we called him Taz Senior.
Taz Senior was a remarkable dog. He was smart, kind and just wanted to be loved. He never displayed any of the problems his previous owners berated him for. We did not have him for a very long time, but for the short time he was here, he was amazing. A wonderful lady from Colorado came and saw Taz. It was love at first sight for both of them. I thought it was remarkable how she and the dog knew they were made for each other. She took him home that day. I still hear from her, and Taz is doing wonderful! She is as amazed as I was that he is as loving and gentle considering what his prior life was like! It was a happy ending to a very sad start. I hope that all Aussies that are in Rescue have a similar ending.

Jeter is a Rescue dog we had for a short time in YR2004.
He was adopted out to a wonderful family in Nebraska.

Left: Sadie was here for only 4 days in April 2008, she was adopted by the same people that adopted Taz. She is a wonderful spirited little girl
