2009
has been a Great year and I have made new friends with not only people that have
purchased dogs from me, but with other Breeders here in the USA and other countries
as well.
We all share the same passion, the love of this wonderful little dog
called the
Australian Terrier
Thank You All and have a Wonderful Holiday
and Happy New Year!

It
has been busy around here, Siren has gone to a wonderful home with someone that
already has an Aussie from me. Libby, after this litter, will be going to a home
where she will become an agility-flyball-earthdog competitor and she will also
compete in UKC shows. I will be seeing her at shows on occasion but she will be
in performance events now. I will be keeping one of her puppies to go forward
with. Paris has been bred to Rufus and she leaves on the 17th to go to Scotland/England
for a year to whelp (if she is pregnant, to early to know) and to hopefully gain
her UK title. She will be a American and UK Champion by the time she returns in
2011 (so we hope). She will be staying with my friend Sheila Stoddart. I have
Rufus from Sheila right now until next year when he will return to Scotland. Piffin
has a possible home as well, he may be leaving at the end of the year to go on
to new adventures. It sounds like the perfect home for him as they have had rescues
before and are familiar with the type of personality he has. Babee's bite is off,
so she will be placed as a pet in the next couple of weeks with a friends sister
who lost her aussie last year.
12-02-2009
Early
next year I will be getting in a puppy from Estonia. She is out of a bitch that
was sired by Temora's American Express (Yankee). So Bully (CH Temora Bully For
You) will be this little girls Great-Grandsire.
Her name is 'Syn' (pronounced
'Sin')

Well,
have made another video, you can find it on the 'Breed Info' page
Hope it goes
over well, I have fun making them with the dogs, trying to get more creative with
the formats

4 Boys
4 Girls
All red but one b/t boy and one b/t girl

and Babies are doing well

Dad is eating the cigars

Libby
is close to whelping, she is trying to dig holes in my closet, but she can not
get past the shoes! She tried to get under the bed, but can't squeeze her stomach
past the frame. This can go on all day and night and preceeds whelping, so I am
expecting her to whelp either tonight or tomorrow.

Remaining
DNA is back on Sini and the Hertzler boy, both are by Rufus!
So of the 8, Rufus
sired 6 and Bull sired 2, not exactly an even split, but it gave me what I wanted
as far as a variety and decision of who to keep. (Of course all of this depends
on if I read the DNA correctly, but once you follow the directions, it is pretty
easy especially since Rufus and Bull are not related in any way)
In
other news, here is a photo of Libby who is due next week, she is getting very
very cranky!

10-23-2009
HAVE
THE DNA BACK on 6 of the 8 puppies!
So far we have the following:
Rufus
has sired:
The two red boys of course
Also G Wynnes puppy boy (has a red
collar)
J Dentons puppy girl (has a blue collar)
Bull has sired:
A Bjorks
puppy girl (has a green collar)
W Howes puppy girl (has a red collar)
Still
waiting on the girl I am keeping (Sini) and S Hertzlers boy
Will keep everyone
posted!
Once I get them all back, it all goes back to AKC with all the DNA
forms on puppies and sires and dam so they can be registered.
This has been
a very long process, but well worth the wait and actually for me, very exciting!
10-23-2009
IT
HAS BEEN CONFIRMED!
UK/AM Champion Millvalley Red Rufus is the first EVER Dual
Champion Australian Terrier! The Breeder of Rufus and the Historian for the U.K.
have been researching this extensively and they have (double) confirmed that Rufus
is the FIRST Australian Terrier to obtain not only his U.K. Championship but his
AKC Championship as well!
How exciting to be part of this Historic Moment!
10-20-2009
Spoke
to AKC today, results are in for the DNA on Sirens litter, they have to sort through
them and then the paperwork will be sent to me next week!
Excited to see who
is from whom!
10-12-2009
For
those that have emailed me to ask, yes, the photo on the front of Marge Reigniers
website page (Crestwood Australian Terriers) is one I took. I was helping Marge
get her website started with some good photos of her dogs:) There are more, she
has not posted them as of yet.

News
From the Homefront!
We are off to the Montgomery shows in Blue Bell
PA. I am driving the 12 hour drive starting tonight and finishing tomorrow.
The
Montgomery Cluster is the largest terrier show in the USA. On Sunday, which is
a the terrier only portion of the show, there are 1858 terrier entered.
That
is a LOT of terriers!
Rufus, Paris, Mikki and Teddi are going.
We will be
meeting up with old friends, including Sheila from Scotland who is flying in tomorrow.
All of us meeting up are planning on having a good time whether we win or loose!
Wish
us luck!

Frick
& Frack Update!
Frick and Frack are still at the vet clinic in IL.
They will be starting their second course of ringworm treatment. With this treatment,
it is a 7 day course on, then a 7 day wait, then you repeat the course of medication.
We
are expecting them to be there for about another 2 weeks
Both are doing well
and are happy and getting healthy.
Their stools are starting to actually have
form to them vs the goop they had coming out of them since they arrived!
The
parasites they have had, probably since they were born, are slowly being eliminated.
Rescue
does have potential homes lined up for them, so they may or may not come back
here before they leave. If they do come here, it will not be for very long.
I
will be there to help pick them up when the time comes, and will get photos!
THANK
YOU to EVERYONE that made a Donation to rescue to help in their care!
Rescue
is very close to my heart and I have been overwhelmed by the people that have
made donations that either have a dog from me, are getting a dog from me or just
tune in to read my website.
THANK YOU!

News
From The Homefront!
Temora's Theodora Rose (Teddi)
is competing in agility as well as conformation shows. Here is what happened at
todays agility meet as reported by her owner Leslie Fischer:
Her first run
today was Jumpers W/ Weaves. She had a clean run-perfect, no errors- w/ a course
time of 27.25 seconds. Her qualifying run was scored at a perfect 100 points .
For her qualifying perfect score w/ a course time of 27.25, she not only Q'ed,
but she qualified w/ a blue ribbon for first place. Now get this: in 27.25 sec.s,
she went over 14 jumps and one set of weaves and covered 95 feet of ground, perfectly.
Told you she was fast!!
Congratulations Leslie & Teddi!!!!

AUSTRALIAN
TERRIER RESCUE NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Frick & Frack (mainly Frick, the little
girl) has a probable case of ringworm. This means she and her littermate has to
stay at the vet clinic for at least another 2 weeks until they are no longer contagious.
If anyone that reads my news page has ever boarded a dog, you know how expensive
it can get
If you are able, PLEASE make a donation to Australian Terrier Rescue,
You
can have the funds go directly towards their care by putting in the memo section:

We
may have a new addition to the household. Marge Reignier (Crestwood Kennels) and
I did a breeding in 2004.
Of that breeding Marge took two puppies - Flash
& Betsy.
I now have a puppy desending from that line and breeding. I am
keeping her for a month to see if she is what I want and need for my breeding
program. She is a great-granddaughter of my foundation bitch - Kizzi. As of right
now, we do not have a name for her, so I am just calling her 'Babee'.

Rescue
Puppy News!
The Rescue Puppies are going to be at a veterinarians for
a while, they have many many parasites. They have Coccidia, Giardia, fleas , worms
(round & whip). The little girl has ear mites but is negative for skin mites
so now they are testing for ringworm on the lesions around her mouth.
Both
have been vacinated for Distemper and are undergoing further tests for the rest
of the possible parasites they may have,
Both are very spunky and are constantly
playing at the vets office (they are in isolation).
Today they will come here
for a brief time, then they will go to IL to a vet there who will keep them indefinitely
until they are well and parasite free and can be adopted out.
When they come
to my house, I will stay outside with them until they are picked up, I can not
take the chance that they will pass something on to my other dogs which will eventually
make it to the puppies.
I will get photos of them when they come here!

Rescue
Puppy News!!
I
have picked up the two Australian Terrier Puppies that were picked up by another
Rescue Group from a Puppy Mill in IA.
They are littermates, both red. They
were taken straight to my vet.
According to what little paperwork I have, they
wwre born on 7-1-09. They are about the size of a 6 week old puppy, not an 8 week
old puppy, so I am not sure if their birthdates are correct or fabricated. Both
are very friendly, smell from the long ride and changing of hands 3 times.
I
can see that the girl has lesions around her mouth and between her eyes. She also
has some skin lesions on her shoulders, my vet will be checking for possible skin
mites or ringworm. The boy has discharge from his eyes, but other than that, he
seems healthy. BOTH have bloated bellies which could indicate worms. So, now I
will wait for my vet to call with an update. Depending on what is going on, I
will not be bringing them home until they are cleared for parasites.
If they
are cleared, they will come here tomorrow.
It brought me to tears when I first
met these little ones. They were initially a bit shy, but warmed up very quickly,
but their breeding is so bad, they barely resemble an Australian Terrier, but
they are Aussies, of that I am certain.
Shame on all the Mills that breed
puppies for profit and care naught about the dogs in general!

I was in Marshfield
WI for some small shows with Rufus
Libby and Mikki came along with the ride,
we have a small cabin about an hour from the show site so we also spent time there.
Friday:
Millvalley
Red Rufus (Rufus) won WD & BOW
We got done and it was still early so
we headed back to the cabin and went to Castle Rock Lake where I took the dogs
swimming.
Rufus took right to it, Mikki after a bit of thinking jumped right
in and then we walked along the beach where Rufus found a dead carp on the sand
and he decided that the 'Proper' thing to do was to roll on the dead fish!
(Libby
came up with my husband so she was not there yet)
Saturday:
Millvalley
Red Rufus (Rufus) won WD BOW & BOB from the classes
(I apologized to
the judge for the fact my dog smelled like a fish)
Sunday:
Millvalley
Red Rufus (Rufus) won WD & BOW
We had a good weekend and the dogs had
fun playing, chasing rabbits and chipmunks, swimming and sleeping in bed.

Cherish
- She was picked up by Patti and taken right to her vet for much needed attention.
Cherish was blind with severe scarring and cataracts and her right back leg had
been severed below the hock giving her about a 2" stubb to walk on. Her left
leg was partially missing, and less than 1" of her paw was still there. She
had been heavily bred and although a shy girl, she was very sweet.
It was figured
that she was about 8-9 years old.
It was decided based on several factors,
to let her go.
So Patti rubbed her belly for a while and sang to her, and then
held Cherish in her arms while she went to sleep.
I wish we could have done
more, but it was not to be.
Cherish will be cremated and Patti will scatter
her ashes at the lake they live near.
Rest in Peace little one
7-24-2009
Today
I found out about an Aussie that is in a Shelter in Lamar MO.
When I saw her
photo, she just pulled at my hearstrings.
She has had one back leg partially
amputated, the other back leg, the foot is only half there, probably from living
on a wire mesh her entire life, she is partially blind and deaf and has been bred
so many times it still shows.
I have made arrangements to have her picked up
by my friend Patti (who has 2 Aussies from me) that lives near that area tomorrow.
She will be taken to her vet for an examination to determine if we can save her.
If
she can be saved, I will make arrangements to get her next week and bring her
home. If she can not, she will be euthanized peacefully with Patti at her side.
If
her care is extensive, I have agreed to cover it myself, but if anyone can make
a donation to Australian Terrier Rescue, they would earmark those funds to help
cover her expenses.
So if you can make a donation to Rescue to help in this
girls care, that would be WONDERFUL!
I have already named her, her name will
be 'Cherish' and if you make a donation, express that you want the funds to be
towards Cherish's treatment.
We will know more tomorrow and I will keep everyone
posted.
Go to the Rescue Page to get more information as to where and how to
contribute to Rescue.
I want to show this little girl that there is more to
life than what she has been subjected too, I hope to make her life the best it
can possibly be no matter how much time she has.
Thank You to Everyone that
will help!
Cherish
